Irish Blessings for a Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day Mousie by Diana Ting Delosh

Namaste Well Wishers and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Hope you have a wonderful day celebrating with friends and loved ones wherever you are in the world.  This sweet offering comes from the talented artist Diana Ting Delosh it’s definitely worth taking a look at more of Diana’s beautiful artwork on Greeting Card Universe.

Wanted to share some Irish Blessings with you over the next few days with a variety of themes with cards created by Heart to Art.  We start with ones for, you guessed it, St. Patrick’s Day!

This first Irish Blessing mentions the popular phrase about “a bit of Irish luck”:

May your day be touched
by a bit of Irish luck,
brightened by a song in your heart,
and warmed by the smiles
of the people you love.

The next Irish Blessing mentions “all your heart may desire”, so I’ve included the claddagh ring to help send out Happy St. Patrick’s Day wishes:

Wishing you always . . .
Walls for the wind
A roof for the rain
And tea beside the fire.
Laughter to cheer you,
Those you love near you,
And all your heart may desire.

Thank you to my dear friend Christine who picked up the claddagh ring pictured above for me on her travels in Ireland many years ago now.  The design of the claddagh ring has a beautiful meaning behind it.  The heart for love, the hands for friendship and the crown for loyalty. It is a ring that can be given in friendship, love or marriage, and hopefully all three if you ask me!!!

The way the claddagh ring is worn can give insight into the status of the wearer’s relationship.  Worn on the right hand with the heart facing out the wearer of the ring is single and their heart is not yet taken.  Still on the right hand, heart facing in the person is in a relationship or their heart has been “captured”.  Worn on the left hand with the heart facing out means they are engaged and with the heart facing in, married.

For today, we end with an Irish Blessing to send wishes to a friend or loved one and their family:

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!

We’ll be back soon with some Irish Blessings to send out to specific members of the family.
Blessed Be!
