Blessings at Mealtimes by Ashtar Number Seventeen

Namaste dear Well Wishers,

Happy New Moon today in Leo at 11:54 am EDT.  Will you be writing down your heartfelt wishes?  Here’s a post all about it click here.

We have been featuring an original blessing from our mealtime since the beginning of August and we’ve eaten our way beyond the halfway point of the month!

A new favourite meal has begun, the toasted tofu sandwich.  The (firm) tofu is first marinated in tamari and sesame oil then fried (could be baked) and piled high with fresh organic lettuce, tomatoes, tahini sauce, soy cheese (melted on top of tofu) and pickles.  Very nice!

Life is an Adventure Mother Teresa Quote by Barbara Schreiber

Today I was day dreaming out into our rented home’s back garden thinking: “Why wouldn’t people plant more fruit trees and share the abundance?” People do, I was quick to find out, 850 tree owners and 1,200 volunteers!

Soon after my musings I was delighted to learn from the local paper for our area in Toronto that a woman named Laura Reinsborough started up a project called Not Far From the Tree (NFFTT) in 2008 whereby local residents sign up their fruit trees and volunteers pick the fruit (mulberries, cherries, plums, apricots, apples and pears and more).

A third of the bounty goes to the home owners, a third to the harvesters and a third to a local social service organization, Wychwood Open Door was one example cited.  Wonderful!

Here’s the link if you have a fruit tree to share in Toronto. And the link if you’d like to make a donation.

Does an initiative like this exist where you live?  Do you have fruit trees in your backyard?  Which ones? Growing up we had cherry trees, though the birds had an eye for the perfect moment of their ripening and would come pick and clean out the cherries for us!

Mulberry Tree Greeting Card by Jacki Newell

A marvelous mulberry moment remains with me from a visit to Santa Barbara, California, with three of us stopping by to feast on a gorgeous berry canopy offering.  Of course, California is amazingly abundant with orange, grapefruit, lemon trees, avocados just there ripening with the California sunshine in the garden!

Well, back to praising this wonderful abundance wherever we happen to live!  There’s more sharing thanks to Ashtar, who tunes in to the sacred space between thoughts putting the pictures to words and I write them down as we say grace before the meal we are about to share together.

Today’s offering, sent in Peace, Light and Love,

If the writing above is a little small (apologies) and here it is once more . . .

You are with us, Lord of all worlds, magnificent creator,
fabric of the universe.

We remember Thee through tokens of Thy blessings at mealtime
and are gathered here to recharge and unite as those
who wish to selflessly carry Thy cause.

The price of remembering you this way is Joy,
inherent in all giving as Thou has given us life.

It’s for all to do, just go and strive.
For Amen.
