Sending messages on the stars and the moon

Namaste Well Wishers,

Starry Starry Night by Susan Alison

When we look up at the awesome nighttime sky and we are missing a dear friend or loved one, have you ever sent them a message on the moon or stars?  Place your message there and they will receive it when they look up at the nighttime sky wherever they are in the world.  Sending them our love and good wishes, it’s the ancient networking system at our heart’s disposal!

We’ve been given an opportunity to choose a favourite card on Greeting Card Universe recently.  Imagine the monumental size of this task, over 500,000 cards to choose from and it cannot be one of our own.

The above pick is my choice for many reasons, and it will be a pleasure to share with you the how and why of it and the talented artist behind the card.  The colours are stunning in the nighttime sky and the Border Collie sits in awe of of its beauty and the magical stars.

The message inside reads: If we look at the same sky, the same stars, and think of each other, then however far apart, we are close.  I love that Susan Alison has reminded us of this. As a Well Wisher this speaks directly to the soul for all the times we think of our dear friends of past and present, family members who we may not get to see as often as we’d wish, our friends or acquaintances who could use some healing wishes and for ourselves who are ever evolving to meet the challenges of the moment.

I See the Moon by Susan Alison

Another carrier of special messages is found in this beautiful card featuring the moon.  The inside message reads:  “I see the moon and the moon sees me.  It also sees you.  Look at the moon and see my love in its light”.

Look at the moon and see my love in its light.  How beautiful. How comforting.  Thank you for this reminder.  Last night, a birthday message was sent on the moon for a beautiful young lady named Serena.

Now, the funny thing is that while I’ve chosen a more reflective, sentimental, serious tone for my favourite card at Greeting Card Universe and of Susan Alison’s collection, you just have to see more of her work.  The antics her Border Collies and animal friends get up to are simply priceless and hilarious!

Susan Alison is a master at placing her delightful and endearing cast of furry friends into humanesque situations and they bring this warm smile of joy and laughter to the heart and soul.  Last night I took a tour of Susan Alison’s Card Shop and I urge you to do the same.

Guaranteed you’ll leave wanting to take up a new hobby!  Might I suggest a few? . . .

Figure Skating Corgi by Susan Alison

Got a new hobby picked out?  The choices are endless, I hope you will have a look for yourself.

While you are there enjoying each card, something not to be missed are the Artist’s notes.

Take for instance the example of the Figure Skating Corgi, the Artist’s Notes read “Herding was in her blood, but figure skating was in her soul.”  Priceless.

Her Best Bonnet by Susan Alisan

Susan Alison’s work has grabbed my attention just like when I was first introduced to Wallace & Gromit.  Sheer delight, full of charm and wit.  The details she puts into her work are so rewarding.  Look at this Spring bonnet for the cat . . . upon closer inspection we find a whole field of friends.

In Susan Alison’s own words, here is a little more background about this talented, humour-filled artist:

Susan Alison is a professional artist who has paintings hanging about in collections worldwide. They are mainly of dogs, although cats are rapidly gaining a paw hold, and now they are to be found as real greeting cards in the Susan Alison Art shop. Susan Alison resides under the paw in the UK. Her current and past artwork can be found on her dog blog at: www.montyandrosie.blogspot.com. Monty and Rosie are her Border Collies. Susan also wields a camera to some effect and has recently started to upload photos to GCU, too. SusanAlisonArt is a good search term to use on the www to find artwork online.

Border Collies by the Light of the Moon by Susan Alison

In honour of the inspiring Border Collies Monty and Rosie, I’ll conclude with a little story a friend told me when I was living in England.  This friend was at a gathering with quite a few people busily chatting in a large room when all of a sudden, unbeknownst to them, the whole group had been herded into one corner!  You guessed it, a Border Collie was present in the house and had carried on with his life’s work nipping at the heels and rounding up the folks.

Thank you Susan Alison for a wonderful glimpse into the world through the eyes of the stellar characters in your artwork.  It’s a lovely reminder to bring or find the joy in all of life’s activities and not to worry when things go pear-shaped!

Be well, and please stay tuned for a contest that comes out of our selecting a favourite card on Greeting Card Universe.

Here’s the link to vote up to and including February 7th: To the Polls I Vote for #11
